Netherlands Central Bank accepts applications for PSD2 licences

The Netherlands Central Bank has announced applications for PSD2 licences are now open.

In line with this, the bank invited interested parties to submit a draft application with the aim of accelerating the application process once the actual date of entry into force is known.

There have already been 20 parties to express an interest, with six having already submitted a draft licence application. The remaining 14 have informed the Central Bank that they aim to submit the application within the near future.

As a result, application processes for some of the companies are well under way. The companies are hoping to provide payment initiation services and account information services, when they receive a licence.

In addition to these parties wishing to offer new services through PSD2, were UK-based companies which are looking to offer their platforms in the country. These parties are looking for a Dutch licence so they can continue to offer their services in the European Union after Brexit.

The final deadline for PSD2 compliance comes in March and a number of companies and countries have been getting themselves ready. Earlier in the month, Portuguese Bank Banco BNI Europa became a strategic customer or API developer NDGIT to boost its PSD2 compliance. The PSD2 Ready solution which help the bank meet its regulatory requirements.
