Jumio opens sales office in Brazil to support LatAm expansion efforts

Identity verification company Jumio has opened a new sales office in Brazil to support its move into the Latin American market.

The office will be led by regional director Samer Atassi and will spearhead the regional expansion. In this position, Atassi will oversea the expansion of its client-base, grow relationships with existing clients in the area, including financial institutions those in Brazil and Mexico, and nurture a sustainable channel network.

Prior to Jumio, Atassi served at NetScout Systems, Network General and 3Com. During their time at network performance company NetScout, Atassi managed all of the Latin American opperaitons, including strategic planning, sales forecasting and creating and educating the go-to-market strategy of the region.

This new office builds upon the company’s expansion efforts in LatAm which began last year with the opening of an operations centre in Colombia.

The company is positioned to support the region with its KYC and AML processes with current clients including Kubo Financiero, BTG Pactual and Tecnología en Entretenimiento Caliplay.

Jumio VP of Americas Harnish Patel said, “With more than 1,000 fintech startups and a large unbanked population, estimated at 210 million, in Latin America, we’re targeting Latam for its untapped market potential.

“Jumio’s end-to-end verification solutions will reshape the region’s traditional banking landscape. These macro trends, coupled with Samer’s proven LatAm track record, will justify the company’s investment in one of our most strategic geographies.”

Jumio is an end-to-end identity verification and authentication solution which helps companies to meet AML, KYC compliance, combat fraud and accelerate various onboarding processes.

Earlier in the year, the RegTech company launched a video-selfie authentication service which leverages biometrics for initial identity proffering and then ongoing user authentication, establishing a secure and quick verification process.

Last year, Jumio was selected for the RegTech 100, for a second year in a row. The list compiles all the RegTech companies every financial institution should know about in 2019.
