Fingerprint Cards launches easy biometric card enrolment system

Fingerprint Cards, a biometric solution developer, has launched a new enrolment demo for biometric payment cards which speed up consumer onboarding.

The new service will allow consumers to quickly and securely add their fingerprint to cards instantly. Fingerprint Cards established this service to ease and enrich a user’s first touch-point with the payment card and lower the time-to-use.

When receiving the card, a user is provided with instructions on how to enrol on the system, taking just a few touches. The process is completed solely by the user and their biometric data is only stored on the payment card itself, ensuring data is not shared without the user’s consent.

The enrolment solution will offer a range of options, to ensure consumers find the method they are most happy with. Other options include enrolling through a mobile banking app, or at a payment terminal.

Fingerprints product marketing, business line smartcards head Lina Andolf-Orup said, “Our consumer research and trial feedback have shown the importance of the initial enrolment process. Any point of friction could put users off, so it is important that we as a company, and an industry, get this right.

“To truly make biometric payment cards a success, we need to create an experience. We want consumers to be engaged and excited, to trust their new card right from when it’s, quite literally, presented to them. Open, enroll and go.”

Earlier in the week, fellow biometric payments company NEXT Biometrics formed a partnership with M-Tech Innovations to bring smart cards to India.
