Cybersecurity firms Bloombase and nCipher sign partnership to make the cloud just a little safer

Two cybersecurity ventures are teaming up to make the cloud just a little safer whilst boosting businesses’ regulatory compliance.

Bloombase, the intelligent storage company, and nCipher, the cybersecurity firm, have taken the next step in their long-running partnership. The new collaboration will mean nCipher’s customers can now enjoy Bloombase’s StoreSafe solution as part of their nShield as a Service package, boosting clients’ digital defences in the processes.

One of the potential customers that may enjoy the added level of protection is eCurrency, a company supporting the adoption of cryptocurrencies by central banks, which announced it would be using nCipher’s solution in March this year.

Sean Xiang, CEO at Bloombase, commented on the next step in the two companies’ relationship, saying, “As a long-standing nCipher nFinity partner, Bloombase is commited to delivering data-at-rest encryption with nCipher HSMs for on-premises use cases. The launch of nShield as a Service from nCipher helps Bloombase customers accelerate migration of their data off-premises to the cloud without the expense of running their own computing infrastructure and security hardware, and raises the bar for security assurance with data governance in the cloud.”

Adding to the sentiment, Cindy Provin, senior vice-president of Entrust Datacard and general manager at nCipher Security, said, “As Bloombase continues to address customers’ changing need for robust cybersecurity through advanced key management and orchestration that scales to meet increasing data volumes, nCipher is proud to offer joint customers additional choice and flexibility with a cloud-based subscription model. The launch of nShield as a Service gives customers easier access to FIPS 140-2 Level 3 and Common Criteria EAL4+ certified HSMs to manage the cryptographic keys underpinning encrypted data.”

nCipher was acquired by Entrust Datacard, a provider of identity and secure issuance technology, in February 2019.
