BluBracket to expand go-to-market activities following $12m Series A

US enterprise security firm BluBracket has closed a $12m Series A round led by Evolution Equity Partners.

Joining Evolution in the funding round were existing investors Unusual Ventures, SignalFire, Firebolt Ventures and Point72 Ventures. To date, BluBracket has raised $19.5m in funding.

Evolution Equity Partners partner Karthik Subramanian will join John Vrionis of Unusual Ventures and Jim Zemlin of the Linux Foundation on the BluBracket board of director following the round.

Established in 2020, Palo Alto-based BluBracket claims it is the first enterprise security solution for code in a ‘software-driven world’. The company provides visibility to other organisations where source code introduces a security risk, while also allowing them to fully secure their code.

BluBracket currently supports BitBucket, Gitlab, GitHub and provides pre-built CI/CD integrations with GitHub Actions, Azure Pipelines and Jenkins and alerting and ticketing systems.

According to BluBracket, through the funding, it will expand its go-to-market activities through significant investments in product-led, developer-first growth – as the company’s Community Edition platform is a free way for developers and security engineers to keep secrets and credentials out of code.

The company added it will deploy some of the new funds to continue the development of its code security products, while also expand product functionality in its Infrastructure-as-Code security, CI/CD integration and keeping sensitive information out of code early in the development process.

BluBracket co-founder and CEO Prakash Linga said, “No company can secure their code without empowering developers. We are passionate about shifting security left and giving companies the tools they need to secure software with every commit. Our technology solves a pressing issue for both application security and DevSecOps teams.

Our new investor Evolution Equity Partners is a powerhouse with deep expertise and connections in the world of cybersecurity. They’re an ideal partner to continue our journey to the forefront of code security.”

Zemlin added, “Software supply chain security is a pressing need for the industry. BluBracket has an innovative solution to empower developers to keep sensitive information out of code before it’s committed to Git. Adoption of solutions like BluBracket will help all of us enhance code security.”
