Banco BNI Europa becomes strategic customer of NDGIT

Portuguese bank Banco BNI Europa has become a strategic customer of API developer NDGIT to boost its open banking efforts.

BNI Europa is implementing NDGIT’S PSD2 Ready solution which help the company meet its regulatory requirements.

Banco BNI Europa executive chairman Pedro Pinto Coelho said, “On March 14th, the implementation of the Payment Service Directive (PSD2) will enter the next phase – Banks must provide a test environment including documentation for their account information and payment initiation services. Following our strategy of open architecture, NDGIT is the best partner. In a business where time is money, an implementation in just 60 business days brings us far ahead.”

PSD2 Ready is a ready-made API solution with backend connectors in accordance with the technical standards of the Berlin Group, STET or UK Open Banking. The service covers the regulation from third-party management to PSD2 reports.

It can also be configured for the various requirements of banking IT and API standards. New updates and extensions are implemented by NDGIT centrally and without having to adapt a bank’s interface.

“What many haven’t realized is that like third-party providers (TPPs), banks can also use the data of other banks for innovative product offers – if they have implemented the digital infrastructure. For a challenger Bank like us that’s a path that we want to go in order to reinforce our role as a leader in the Fintech generation,” Pedro Pinto Coelho added.

Earlier in the week, Banco CTT picked Fiserv to enhance its anti-money laundering capabilities.

Fellow Portuguese bank Banco Carregosa recently formed a deal with Payment Components & Infosistema to support its PSD2 compliance. The deal gives the bank access to the API management platform to integrate other solutions or develop their own.
