More than $2.1bn was invested in RegTech companies in Europe between 2014 and Q3 2019, across 284 deals, with more than half of this capital raised in the first three quarters of 2019 alone.

Over $576m was raised in the ten largest deals last quarter. That represents more than 50% of the total funding raised by companies so far in 2019.

Business process automation, risk and compliance solutions provider Signavio, raised $177m in a Series C round led by Apax Digital in July 2019. This was the largest RegTech deal in Europe last quarter and values the Berlin-based company at $400m.

Acronis was founded in Singapore in 2003, incorporated in Switzerland in 2008 and now has employees across 18 countries, supporting more than half a million customers worldwide. The cybersecurity solution provider became a unicorn following the $147m of investment the company raised from Goldman Sachs in September 2019. Funding will be used to expand its engineering team in Bulgaria, Arizona and Singapore.
