Capsule 8 receives multi-million-dollar investment from Intel

Capsule8, which delivers high-performance attack protection for Linux environments, has secured a multi-million-dollar investment.

The round was led by Intel Capital, who joins existing Capsule8 backers which include ClearSky Security, Bessemer Venture Partners and others. With the fresh funds, the RegTech has raised a total of $30m in equity.

Following the round close, the company hopes to boost its sales, marketing, product development, and customer-facing initiatives.

Capsule8, headquartered in Boston, provides attack protection for Linux production environments and can be deployed in the cloud or on-premise. Its Protect solution provides a single service to detect and prevent exploits in real-time.

The company is designed to identify unwanted activity and helps businesses safely collect and access their data. Clients can leverage Capsule8 to ensure compliance with PCI, HIPAA, SOC2 and FINRA.

The investment comes a year after Capsule8’s former round where it landed $15m from investors including ClearSky, Bessemer and Rain Capital.

Intel Capital managing director Sunil Kurkure said, “Containers and cloud-native security offerings solve a critical piece of the enterprise protection puzzle. While other vendors address pieces of the problem, Capsule8 addresses the urgent need organizations have for security across their entire production infrastructures.”

This is the second cybersecurity company Intel Capital has backed in as many weeks. The investor previously led the $23m funding of Trinity Cyber, a company which proactively intercepts, and controls cyberattacks.
